Valentine’s Day Crafts & Crafting Events

Valentine’s day is a Pinterest perfect holiday with so many fun and easy crafts to make. From decorations to gifts for family and friends even your tiniest artists can join in the fun.

5 February 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Make and Take Valentine’s Day Celebration
Crystal Lake Public Library – registration required
Students in grades 1-5 can celebrate Valentine’s at the library. There will be BINGO, crafts, and cool projects.

6 February 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Playdough Playtime
Algonquin Area Public Library, Main Library
Stop by to create your own playdough creation using sparkles, hearts and other fun add-ins.

10-16 February Take-Home Craft
McHenry Public Library District
Stop by the public services desk to pick up a Valentine Fox Craft kit, while supplies last.

11 February 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Valentine Creations for Clarendale
Algonquin Area Public Library, Main Library
Join the library to create homemade Valentine’s for the residents of Clarendale. All supplies provided.

12 February 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. Valentine’s Art Project
Algonquin Area Public Library District, Main Library – registration required
Children in grades 5-8 can create a unique Valentine’s themed mixed-media project, suitable for hanging.

13 & 14 February Be Mine, Nature Valentine
Oakwoods Lodge, Crystal Lake Park District – registration required
Children ages 2-4 will get to make a Valentine out of found objects. Fee is $7 residents $9 non-residents. 45 minute drop-off class on either Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. or Thursday at 12:00 p..m.

Valentine’s Day Food

From heart shaped pizza to sweet treats there is a lot to love about Valentine’s food. Find something to love at one of these tasty events:

6 -8 February Valentine for a Donut
Morke’s Chocolates of Huntley
Spread love and happiness this year. Bring in a Valentine February 6 – 8 and Morke’s will donate it to a local nursing home and you get a free donut! One free donut per card maker.

14 February 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Cookie Decorating
Algonquin Area Public Library, Main Library
Enjoy a Valentine’s Day Story and then decorate your own cookie. For ages 2 and older.

Valentine’s Storytimes

Love a good book with Valentine themed storytimes for the whole family.

10 February 10:00 a.m. Valentine’s Day Celebration
Nippersink Public Library, Richmond
A full day of Valentine fun starting with Family storytime at 10:00. Crafts and activities will be available all day.

Other Valentine’s Day Events

If you are more of a doer than a maker head out to one of these Valentine’s Day-themed events for families in McHenry County:

9 Febraury 7:00 – 10:00 p.m Valentine’s Special Skate Session
Bella’s Bouncies Skate on Grand, Fox Lake
Games, Bounce House, Selfie Booth, and more! $10 per person, $15 per couple for regular skate rental and admission. 

14 February 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Valentine’s Day Open Jump
Bella’s Bouncies Jump Center, Volo
Wear red and save $2 on the $10 admission. 

14 & 15 February 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Valentine’s Parents Night Out
Pump it Up, Crystal Lake
Drop the kids off for 3 hours of fun. Includes bouncing, pizza and drinks. Reservations are recommended as spots are limited.

14 February 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Parent’s Night Out: Valentine’s S.T.E.A.M.
Best Brains of Algonquin – registration required
Drop-off your child for two hours of fun. Valentine-themed S.T.E.A.M. activies for only $10 per child.
