Trick-or-treating is no longer reserved for the block you live on. These days, there are a lot of opportunities around McHenry County to trick-or-treat, and not only on Halloween. Trick-or-Treat Trails in McHenry County

24 October 1-2:00 p.m. Trick or Treat Trail
In-Person – Registration Required
{Cary} Walk the Lions Park trail and enjoy games, prizes, and more! Parents join your children as they dress up for this “spooktacular” afternoon. The cost is $5 per child.

Trunk-or-Treats in McHenry County

24 October 4-6:00 p.m. Trunk-or-Treat
In-Person – FREE
{Crystal Lake} Fun and safe for all the family. Trunk or Treat at the Sage YMCA parking lot. Register your trunk or just come and enjoy the fun.

25 October 2-4:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treat at the Cullom Knoll
In-Person
{McCullom Lake} Trunk or Treating at Cullom Knoll. There will be a contest for the best-decorated trunk and costumes. Face coverings are required. There will be a backdrop for family photos. There will be an activity area for kids and Cullom Knoll will be offering $6 12″ Cheese Pizzas (toppings extra)

Events with Trick-or-Treating in McHenry County

26 – 31 October Trick-or-Treat Goodie Bags
Free – In-Person
{Algonquin} The Library cannot offer in-person storytimes this year, but we still want to see your costumes! Come to the Library in your costume and receive a Halloween goodie bag at the Youth Services desk. You will need to wear a face mask to enter the library. You may come in to either location in your costume for a goodie bag.

26 October 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Halloween Howl
FREE – Outdoors – In-Person
{Fox Lake} Join the Village of Fox Lake Police Department to celebrate Halloween. Your family will get to meet members of the Fox Lake Police Department, enjoy treats, bouncy houses, hot chocolate, hayrides, and candy apples.

31 October 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Book or Treat at the Library
In-Person – Registration Required
{Marengo} All Ages. Costumes encouraged! Join us for a walk outside around the Library for some sweet fun and an amazing time on a Halloween scavenger hunt. Finish the hunt and get a free book (based on availability) to those 18 and under.

31 October 12-2:00 p.m. Drive-Thru Trick-or-Treat
In-Person – Registration RequiredFREE
{Marengo} This is a no-contact event. Upon arrival, you will be checked-in and directed to the driving path to enjoy Trick or Treating from the comfort of your car. Each registered child will receive a Goody Bag filled with candy, crafts, and more. Wear your costume and dress up your vehicle to enjoy this event. You must remain in your vehicle at all times. ​
