National Night Out in McHenry County

The  National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and helps to build a sense of friendly company amongst neighbors. This, in turn, makes our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. We’ve rounded up the events we’ve found and encourage you all to join your neighbors and Law Enforcement Officers in your community.

National Night Out Events in McHenry County

Unless otherwise stated all events are Tuesday, August 8.

Algonquin National Night Out
4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Algonquin Pool
This event helps enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while building a true sense of community. Food, swimming,
displays, vehicles, demonstrations and MORE! All daily fees will be waived for the pool during this event! Stick around following for the first-ever Flick and Float!

Cary National Night Out
6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Downtown Cary
There will be games, prizes, raffles, a dunk tank, food for purchase, and much more! We are looking forward to another fantastic event.

Crystal Lake National Night Out
5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Three Oaks Recreation Area
A fun filled night with face painting and balloon twisting artists, touch-a-truck display, Star 105.5, and BATMOBILE. 

National Night Out Fox Lake
4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Lakefront Park
Celebrate National Night Out – an evening of Public Safety and Community Partnership at Lakefront Park! Come see Police, Fire, and Public Works vehicles on display with games and activities for kids of all ages. Stop by for dinner (hotdogs) as well!

Harvard National Night Out
6:00 – 8:30 p.m., Harvard Moose Lodge
A free community event featuring food, entertainment, door prizes, touch-a-truck, bouncy house, and demonstrations.

Huntley National Night Out 
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Huntley Police Department
Come cheer for the Blue or the Red (or both) in our annual friendly softball match up. Join us at the Police Department for a fun family event.  Meet your officers and your neighbors, get up close to the first responder equipment, and tour our facilities.

McHenry National Night Out 
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Petersen Park, McHenry
Stop by for complimentary food and beverages and enjoy the free ongoing activities. Various police equipment will be on display. Play a few midway style games including a climbing wall. Booths include: Electronic Fingerprinting ID System for Children, Project S.W.E.E.P., Sheriff’s Office Explorer, Volunteer and other programs.

Saturday, August 10

National Night Out – Free Community Cook Out 
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Safety Education Center, Lake in the Hills
Come on out for a police station tour, watch a live K-9 demo,
see and touch various types of police and fire vehicles, check out the Flight for Life helicopter (upon availability), try on a pair of fatal vision impairment goggles, visit the police simulation trailer which contains non-lethal training marking cartridges, visit with our tactical bike and traffic units, and more. Don’t forget to enjoy a free hotdog on us!
