In the quaint town of Richmond, a new culinary paradise has arrived. The Richmond Brathaus is the newest resident in the revitalized historic town, and its presence on Main Street has been much anticipated. Its first opening weekend brought standing room only and rave reviews…this is truly a meal you don’t want to miss!

A mix of rustic and trendy decor, with exposed brick walls, bare hanging bulbs, and custom distressed wood bars, The Richmond Brathaus has a great local pub feel. With background tunes of classic rock music, flat-screen televisions that aren’t too overbearing, and a very family-friendly environment, this is a place you will want to hang out. The staff is knowledgeable about all of the local food that’s on the menu and is super attentive to all of our needs — you’ll feel like a regular even if you just walked in the door.

We started our meal with deep-fried avocados, and oh my, yum! A delicious mix of creamy and crunchy with a homemade ranch dipping sauce — I could have eaten three orders of these! I, of course, had a bratwurst for my meal topped with Vienna sauerkraut. These brats are the result of a custom recipe from a local butcher made just for the Brathaus — and they were everything I wanted in a brat. Piping hot with just the right amount of snap, overflowing the warm pretzel bun — my mouth is watering again just thinking about it. I also indulged with an upgrade to the sweet potato fries, and they were worth every penny. Tossed in cinnamon and sugar and served with a warm marshmallow dipping sauce, they exceeded my french fry expectations.

My husband ordered a Ring of Fire from the Gourmet Burger selection. Grilled perfectly and topped with pepper jack cheese, cherry chipotle BBQ sauce, bier battered onion rings, and jalapeno on a brioche bun, it was clear this was a creation of a gourmet burger master! All of the ingredients are either homemade or locally sourced, and attention to quality is evident in every bite.

For my little foodies, there were high chairs and covered drinks aplenty. The kids’ menu offered creative options such as fried mac and cheese bites and brat bites, and all come with fresh-cut fries and a drink. Despite no changing table in the bathroom, it was a perfect place for a weekday family dinner.  If burgers and brats aren’t your things, the menu also boasts chicken, pork, and fish options as well, along with a Friday fish fry.

If you are thirsty, there are no shortages of beverage options. Known for their monthly rotation of local craft beers, the Richmond Brathaus supports local breweries as well as nationally recognized craft beer purveyors. They also have a wide selection of wine, mixed cocktails, whiskeys, scotches, and even bottled root beer and blue cream soda for the under-21 crowd.

If you are looking for an excellent place for lunch or dinner (every day except Monday), stop by the Richmond Brathaus for locally sourced brats, gourmet burgers, and craft beer. Afterward, take a walk down lovely Main Street and enjoy boutique shopping, antique troves, a refinished furniture store, a delightful coffee shop, and even a hiking trail. When you’re done, you can wind up back at the Richmond Brathaus for one last beer.

Or Bier, if you want to truly be correct…
