A winter like we have had can have you longing for summer. If you are craving those fresh and bright fruits and vegetables of summer now

First off you may be wondering, what is a CSA?
CSA = Community-Supported Agriculture
It’s a system that connects the consumer (you) to the producer (farmers) that provides and investment in your health, community and local economy. You purchase a “share” from your selected farm and in exchange you get a box (bag or basket) of seasonal produce (or meat and eggs) on the agreed upon time frame for the growing season. It’s a great way to support farmers and supplement your local trips to the farmers market.

When choosing your CSA:
- Location: Make sure you choose one that you will be willing to drive to as it will have to be the same one every week.
- Variety: Do you want organic? Fruits and vegetables or just vegetables? Do you want meat cheese and eggs too?
- Be realistic – midwest growing season can be unpredictable. Most run June through October but be prepared to supplement with trips to the market.
