Ahh, here we are, entering my favorite season of the year. Autumn in Illinois is always such a spectacular time for weather, family, fall activities, and fun! Kick-off the beginning of this beautiful season at Huntley’s annual Hometown Fall Festival this year it will be virtual, September 25 – 27, 2020. And the best part of all…admission is FREE!
Huntley Fall Fest
COVID-19 Statement: Experts have advised that the best thing for our community during the current Coronavirus pandemic is to reduce crowded gatherings. Please exercise caution when selecting outings. Ultimately it is your decision if you choose to go to public events and spaces. For the best and most up to date information on the outbreak locally, please visit the McHenry County Health Department COVID-19 status page.
For 2020 all the events at Deicke Park have been canceled. This is a personal review from 2017 when it was a live festival.
This Fest is a four-day celebration that features entertainment by several energetic bands, a beer garden, food vendors, a full carnival, and fall activities, plus an amazing fireworks display on Saturday night! Fun for the whole family, this is a chance to celebrate the season with your community and have a great time.
The Main Stage features various awesome bands, from County to Beatles, to cover bands featuring hits from the ’70s and beyond. This year the bands will be streaming live on the Huntley Fall Fest Facebook Page. There are a limited number of in-person tickets available to see some of the shows.
During regular years Windy City Amusements provides the carnival rides and games, and standard carnival treats too. A pre-sale Mega Pass is usually available for pre-sale and provides unlimited rides all weekend long. Passes can be purchased online or at the Huntley Rec Center. If you (like me) are totally fine with handling just one day of carnival time, unlimited ride passes are available for single days during limited hours.
In addition to the exciting bands and carnival rides, a book fair, a model train display (which will encompass most of the gym!), a craft and home business show, a car and tractor show, a Scarecrow building contest, and hayrides are also available at different points in the weekend. See the Fest Schedule here.
Food and Beverage…
And then there’s food…and lots of it! Butcher on the Block will offer delicious grilled specialties. Texan BBQ, Huntley Tacos Locos, Parkside Pub, Sammy’s Bar & Grill, Dumpling House (Polish Specialities), Alfredos Pizza, Pasta, and Catering, and Plum Garden will all provide you with a vast range of delectable foods to satisfy any palate. And then you can indulge your sweet tooth at one of the food booths from Morke’s Chocolates, Manny’s Handcrafted Gelato & Cafe, Kona Ice, or Culver’s. And of equal importance to food…after a day of festing with the kids, the beer garden is readily available and stocked with beer, Mike’s Hard Lemonades, Ciders, and Bob Chinn’s beverages.
So while the weather is gorgeous and it’s fun to be outside…let’s get out and celebrate the start of fall and the holidays to come at the Fall Fest in Huntley! See you there!
