Good things are brewing in the McHenry County area for beer lovers. Since the number of local breweries in the area is growing, so are the number of beer festivals. Whether you like ales, lagers, or something more experimental–these festivals will have a taste of something that you will love.
We’ve rounded up a list of the upcoming local beer festivals where you can get your drink on in the area. We suggest you get a babysitter, a designated driver, and make it a date night.

Barks and Brews Dog-Friendly Beer Festival
Saturday, April 27

Sample beers alongside your favorite four-legged friend at this dog-friendly, craft beer festival. Proceeds from this event benefit Save-a-Vet, an organization that aids military and law enforcement working animals as well as disabled, injured, and retired military and law enforcement veterans. Tickets to this fest include 20, 3-ounce tasting samples and a commemorative beer tasting mug.
Craft Brew Crawl
Saturday, May 18, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Glacial Park & Lost Valley Visitor Center
$15 residents, $20 non-resident must pre-register
Join McHenry County Conservation District for a beer-tasting hike through Glacial Park. You will make several stops to taste different micro-brews from local breweries.
Pub in the Park Craft Beer Fest
Saturday, June 22
4:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Sunset Park, Lake in the Hills
VIP $65 General Admission $45
Experience a fabulous selection from approximately 50 local and unique breweries. They will be featuring over 100 of their up to the minute products and seasonal selections for you to taste! Your ticket gets you access to the beer tastings and a charming souvenir glass. The event will also have live entertainment and food trucks.
Barrington Brew Festival
Saturday, July 13
3:00 – 7:00 p.m.
$40 in advance
This event supports the Barrington Area Council on Aging and features more than 50 brewers and over 90 craft beers to sample. Admission includes a souvenir glass, t-shirt (limited availability) and 20 tickets for 3-ounce drink samples. VIP ticket perks include early entrance, a special seating area, appetizers, and a food vendor coupon. Additional sample tickets may be purchased for $0.50 each (cash only). Tickets to this event are limited and not yet on sale.
The Great Outdoors Beer Trail
Saturday, August 17, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Fel-Pro RRR, Cary
$35 Early Bird, $45 pre-sale, $50 at the gate, $55 Gold Pass
If you love sampling good craft beer and spending time outdoors, this event is for you! Walk the one mile partially wooded trail while visiting various regional breweries along the way. All ticket holders receive a commemorative pint glass, 18 – 4 oz pours of craft beer and hard ciders, access to food trucks and live music. The event is dog-friendly, on a leash. Designated driver tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door.
