It’s almost December! Time to deck the halls and trim the tree! If your looking for a bit of fun, adventure, and a very fresh tree why not head to one of our local farms and cut down your own?
It’s not as hard as you would think. Most of the farms offer pre-cut trees as well and all will have tools and people on hand to help you.
Christmas Tree Farms in McHenry County
As with all our listings, we do our best to ensure accuracy but please check listings before heading out for your adventure to ensure that they still have trees available and check conditions. Most farms take credit cards but have cash or a checkbook handy. Prices vary per type of tree and locations so call ahead to get pricing (most places price per foot).

Opening the Friday after Thanksgiving the Pine-Apple Farm is open Weekends through December 22, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All trees on the farm are hand pruned. Cut your own trees start at $65 and pre-cut trees start at $75. Cash and Check are preferred there will be a processing fee for credit card purchases.
Ben’s Christmas Tree Farm

Cut your own tree farm that offers organic, pesticide-free trees. You will also find wagon rides, farm animals, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, coffee and much more. Ben’s is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from November 29 through December 23.

Confirea Christmas Tree Farm offers choose and cut as well as pre-cut trees. This small, 20-acre farm’s goal is to grow and produce beautiful Christmas trees and exceptional wreaths.

Pioneer Tree Farm

Enjoy a wagon ride to and from the trees, as well as a warming house with hot chocolate and coffee, all free of charge. Leashed pets are allowed, but not in the warming house. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., November 29 and Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday December 22. Cash or check only.

Oney’s Tree Farm

Open November 29 – December 8, Pre-cut trees available through December 15. This tree farm has it all including a gift shop, free wagon rides, a bakery and more. They offer pre-cut, cut your own trees, or you can get a tree cut with roots for planting later. Leashed pets are welcome as you get your tree! Open Daily November 29 through December 23. Richardson’s features over 50,000 trees of many varieties spread over 75 acres. On weekends there are free wagon rides to the fields. They also offer free hot chocolate, wreaths garland and handmade decorations.
