Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name! If you are looking for a delicious and adorable restaurant to take your family, you must try Benedict’s La Strada in downtown Crystal Lake. This quaint spot is the perfect place to enjoy a family Sunday brunch, a ladies’ lunch, or a breakfast date with your spouse on the rare occasion you end up kid-free with some time to kill.
Benedict’s La Strada, Crystal Lake
The menu choices provide a huge variety of unique and traditional options. From several Eggs Benedict combinations to menu items such as Chilaquiles with chicken and eggs, or a delicious California Scramble, which is eggs on potato pancakes and topped with bacon, avocado, and hollandaise, to the sweet-tooth-pleasing Apple, Cinnamon and Pecan Strata…most any palate will be appeased. And if you are more in the mood for lunch, choose from a variety of sandwiches, salads, and burgers that are equally tasty and crafted with fresh ingredients. Seasonal specials are also available and change weekly. And they are all scrumptious!
Benedict’s was the most awarded restaurant in McHenry County in the Northwest Herald Readers’ Choice Awards, “Best of the Fox” poll of 2018. It won “Best” Breakfast, Omelette, Pancakes, Outdoor Dining, Gluten Free Menu, Kids’ Menu, Vegetarian Dining, and of “One of the Best” Bloody Marys.
Three Benedict’s Restaurant Options!
If you don’t have time for a full sit down meal, visit Taste of Benedict’s across the street, which features grab and go drinks and food options. Taste was also voted “One of the Best” Coffee shops and gift shops in McHenry County. There is another restaurant located in East Dundee as well, Benedict’s Eggs and More, and its equally fantastic.
It’s Not Only the Food that Draws you Back.
Benedicts La Strada provides a cozy location right in the heart of downtown Crystal Lake. My kids have fun playing “Count the Roosters” if there is a wait for a table, as the decor has a country flair with many roosters decorating the shelves throughout the restaurant. My kids also love to dig through the bin of books and small toys located near the hostess stand to entertain them throughout our meal. The kid’s menus have games and coloring, which all four of my kids (even the 12-year-old!) enjoy using. A picturesque outdoor patio is also great during the warmer months. The patio adds a great deal of seating to the restaurant and a lovely view of Williams Street and is always our first choice on a beautiful morning.
The staff is warm and friendly, and they know us all by name. We even send the restaurant a Christmas card each year, as the employees at Benedict’s have become friends. When we sit down, the servers immediately know that our kids like chocolate milk, with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a cherry on top. And it’s made perfectly every time! This act of going above and beyond for customers is what helps Benedicts stand out as a favorite in McHenry County. And when your family is fully satisfied and ready to roll home, you will receive your bill alongside adorable egg-decorated cookies and chocolate mints. Yum!
If you haven’t been to Benedict’s yet, I dare you to go and not love every minute of your experience. And if you have been there, no doubt you will be back again soon. See you there!
